Ever been frustrated in the process of waiting?
I've realized that waiting is part of the process. Somewhere between action and result is something called patience.
Some time ago, I had a better understanding of what the process was during a talk with a friend (it was one of those down moments and I was going on and on about how I trusted the process but I wasn’t seeing the possibility of the desired result).
I spoke to a friend about it and I still remember her words. "the process begins when you start, you can’t trust what you haven’t started" She explained further, likening the process to a journey.
Think of the process as a journey. You have to take a deliberate step to start the journey. In between the start of that journey and the destination is a waiting period. However, we don’t stop moving cause we’re waiting to get to a desired destination, we keep going and keep trusting the process while we’re at it.
We refuel the vehicle when the need arises, take breaks, and rest but we don’t stop cause there’s a destination, a goal ahead.
"Patience is not simply the ability to wait. It is how we behave while we're waiting."
- Joyce Meyer
Waiting is not always easy, it can be hard and frustrating sometimes. Waiting tries our faith, stretches our patience, and questions our submission but waiting in itself is beneficial to us; it endears the blessing when it comes. The value we place on what we are waiting for determines the willingness to wait.
The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction. Growth/transformation is a process and as life happens, there are many ups and downs. There are moments we're on mountain tops of joy and moments we're in deep valleys of despair. Fretting about how long it will take or how hard the journey will be will not get us there. We undertake the journey by taking a step at a time and then repeating the process until we reach our desired destination.
Billy Graham said it best, "Each life is made up of mistakes and learning, waiting, growing, practicing patience and being persistent"
So, while we wait, let us work and cultivate a good waiting attitude.
Trust the process that you have started and be persistent. Also, ensure that you wait well enough for what's worth waiting for.
